Welcome to GIC Re Syndicate 1947

GIC 1947 is the fully-aligned syndicate backed by GIC Re, one of the largest reinsurance groups in the world. GIC Re’s current Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mr Devesh Srivastava, sponsored the Syndicate project whilst head of the UK Branch of GIC Re.

Launched in 2018, our mission is to marry the traditional values of our parent with the dynamic entrepreneurialism for which the Lloyd’s market is rightly famous. Led by Neil Attwood, our team brings an average 25 years experience to enable us to deliver excellent, innovative service to our key stakeholders, whether (re)insured or broker.

We operate as a single team, ensuring a holistic approach to client relationships across property D&F, property treaty, marine & speciality treaty, and non-marine speciality/Consortia while seeking to bring the best of the Indian insurance market to Lloyd’s.

We believe in building strong mutually-beneficial client relationships, focusing on a limited number of carefully selected partners. We pride ourselves on applying highly-developed analytics to real-life situations, listening to client needs and responding appropriately.

The Syndicate is managed by Hamilton Managing Agency Limited with GIC Re (via its Lloyd’s Corporate member) providing 100% of the capital to support the business underwritten at Syndicate 1947.

We have excellent contacts with our GIC Re colleagues both in the UK Branch and elsewhere, which can enable us to cooperate in supporting mutual clients. We are fortunate to have a secondee programme with our parent, deepening and broadening our links with the group. Currently the syndicate has four secondees who add greatly to our successful development.

We believe that relationships matter, especially in times of adversity. We look forward to meeting you whether in your own offices or ours.

As a Lloyd’s syndicate, we benefit from the financial strength, security and stability of the Lloyd’s market to meet our ongoing insurance policy and contractual obligations. Lloyd’s currently enjoys an “A” rating from A.M. Best and “A+” ratings from Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor’s. www.lloyds.com
